Gratitude in Room 312

Dear God, the night after my mastectomy, Nurse Angela brought an extra blanket without being asked. The air gets cold around 2am, she whispered, tucking it around my IV lines. At exactly 2:17am when the chills hit, I clutched that blanket like a lifeline. Later I learned she did this for every patient on her rounds, memorizing each of our names and fears. You put angels in scrubs who see our vulnerability before we feel it. Thank you for hands that heal beyond medicine.
